From the 19th of September 2008 to the 9th of October 2008, we notified some customers via a bill insert of a change to the charge on their bill relating to the Electricity Commission’s levy rate that was to apply from 1 December 2008.
The new rate included a much larger provision for funding the Electricity Commission’s security of supply activities.
Recently the Commission advised us that their funding requirements for security of supply would be much less than originally anticipated, and have revised the rate downwards.
Meridian was advised of this change in early October and stopped mailing the insert with customer statements as quickly as possible. This means that there will be no change to the current Electricity Commission levy charge and there will be no adjustments made on your bill.
We apologise for any confusion this may have caused.
