Sponsorship and community funding

One of the ways Meridian Energy shows its commitment to New Zealand is by getting behind a range of talented people, community organisations and activities.

Through our sponsorship and community funding we support the development of projects and activities that provide real benefit to the lives of our customers and neighbours.

Our support is offered in two ways.

The Meridian sponsorship programme is dedicated to activities or initiatives that reflect Meridian Energy's key values while meeting our business objectives and the objectives of our sponsored partner.

The Meridian Community Funds recognise the special contribution our generation communities make to our hydro and wind operations, and to the country's electricity sector. There are five Meridian Community Funds for the communities around our electricity generation operations - the Waitaki hydro scheme, the Manapouri power station, and the West Wind, White Hill and Te Apiti wind farms.
