Communities

In areas where we operate generation facilities, we aim to help communities develop sustainably. To help encourage this, and to acknowledge the significant and enduring contribution they make to our Company's achievements, we have established community funds which are run by a panel of community members and Meridian staff.

We seek to talk to community members and hear about their key interests and concerns, because only at that point can we provide sufficiently detailed answers or develop solutions. Our approach is based on honest and transparent communication.

Through sponsorships, community funds and providing employment and fundraising opportunities we make a positive contribution to the communities we operate in.

We continue to work to strengthen our relationships with Maori, acknowledging and respecting their special place as New Zealand's indigenous people.
