Fuel use in boats

There has been a large decrease in the amount of diesel used for the boats in the last year, due to the boats operating less frequently now that a major power station refurbishment project has been completed.

This figure will be reduced even further next year as a new catamaran ferry has been commissioned to replace the two vehicles that have been operating for 45 years. Fuel efficiencies were a key consideration in the tender process.
