Community funding

Meridian Energy recognises the special contribution our generation communities make to our hydro and wind operations, and to the country's electricity sector.  We are proud to be part of these communities.

The Meridian Energy Te Apiti Community Fund

The Meridian Energy Waitaki Community Fund

The Meridian Energy Manapouri Te Anau Community Fund

We know that investing in initiatives of value to these communities is crucial.  One of the ways we do this is through community funds for the communities around our hydro and wind operations.

The funds give our generation communities a greater say on what local initiatives are supported and funded by Meridian Energy.   They are about working in partnership to help bring about community outcomes of real value.  In establishing the funds, we are demonstrating our commitment to the communities surrounding our electricity generation operations.

The communities have been integral to the development and establishment of the funds and their advisory panels.  Through consultation, we asked communities what they'd like to see the funding used for.

These surveys identified a number of community priorities.  The objectives and criteria for the funds reflect these priorities and guide the allocation of funds.

And, to ensure fund outcomes are community driven, each fund is managed by an advisory panel made up of an equal number of community and Meridian Energy representatives.

Funds have been established in the Te Apiti, Waitaki and Manapouri Te Anau communities.

Each fund has specific objectives.  Before making an application please read each fund's objectives and the fund selection criteria.   These objectives and criteria provide the basis for funding decisions and have been established from the research Meridian Energy conducted in the communities directly surrounding our generation assets.
