In 2012, the Macarthur wind farm project financing agreement for Meridian’s debt portion of the investment was awarded a Project Finance International (PFI) Award. The Macarthur project is 50/50 joint venture between Meridian and AGL Energy, and will have a final build cost of around A$1 billion.
The judges concluded that “the deal was notable on a number of levels…one of the first since the global financial crisis in 2008”, but also because of the number of organisations involved and the complexity of the transaction.
