New energy assessment service to save SMEs money

SMEs – small and medium-sized enterprises – can now benefit from cost-effective, accessible and simple energy-saving assessments thanks to Meridian’s partnership with Enercon Energy and Utility Consultants.

The service fills the gap for a service that was previously only available for larger businesses at a cost of several thousand dollars.

Its introduction, currently to Meridian customers in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, is another example of Meridian’s strategy to provide more value for its customers through practical solutions.

Enercon Managing Director Kees Brinkman believes it is the first time that assessments of this type have been offered to SMEs anywhere in the world. “It’s picking up on the more obvious things – equipment left on that is supposed to be off, the wrong type of lighting installed. The main opportunity for SMEs is to raise efficiency and increase the profits. There’s really some money to be saved here.”

The assessment involves a one-hour walkthrough of your business by an Enercon energy auditor, brief interviews with staff and a review of the business’s electricity consumption, followed by a written report suggesting power-saving strategies.
