Here are the most common reasons for a bill being higher than normal. See if any apply to you.

  • It's an estimated bill and may be incorrect. Send us a new reading within 5 days and we'll re-issue the bill.
  • It's an actual reading following an unrealistically low estimated bill for the previous period.
  • Colder weather has increased your use of heating.
  • Warmer weather has increased your use of air conditioning/refrigeration.
  • You have new appliances – like a heat pump.
  • You've had more people using your facilities which has increased your use of hot water and appliances.
  • Your hot water cylinder is leaking.
  • You have other faulty appliances in need of repair.
