Waitaki hydro scheme

The Waitaki hydro scheme includes eight power stations from Lake Tekapo to Lake Waitaki in the MacKenzie Basin. Meridian operates stations at Lake Ohau, Benmore, Aviemore and Waitaki, and Genesis Energy operates the two stations linked by the Tekapo canal.
