  • Referral programme terms and conditions

    1. These Terms and Conditions govern the Meridian Energy Referral Programme (“Programme”). By participating in the Programme, you agree that you have read, understand and accept these Terms and Conditions.
    2. You must complete a one-off registration available online at www.meridian.co.nz/referbusiness and be accepted by Meridian to be eligible to participate in the Programme. All communications and information relating to the Programme will be delivered to your registered email address.
    3. You agree that by participating in the Programme you will:
      1. exercise due care and skill;
      2. act in a conscientious and professional manner;
      3. not commit any act which may adversely affect Meridian’s reputation or interests; and
      4. comply with all laws.
    4. You agree to promote to your clients Meridian’s services as a provider of electricity.
    5. When your client shows an interest in switching to Meridian you will provide Meridian with the client’s contact details by completing an online Client Referral Form.
    6. In referring clients to Meridian you must abide by all laws (including the provisions of the Privacy Act 1993 and the Secret Commissions Act 1910) and prior to completing an online Client Referral Form ensure that the client consents to:
      1. their contact details being passed on to Meridian; and
      2. Meridian contacting them regarding the provision of electricity services.
    7. A referral will be deemed successful when:
      1. a client referred by you has signed up as a Meridian Customer within 30 days of the date of referral;
      2. the client is a new customer to Meridian;
      3. the client meets Meridian’s customer requirements and has agreed to Meridian’s Standard Terms and Conditions for the Supply of Electricity; and
      4. the client is still a Meridian customer 30 calendar days after the start date of their new account with Meridian.
    8. Meridian will provide you with a Prezzy® card per successful referral. The Prezzy® card will be delivered to the delivery address set out in your registration and you are responsible for notifying us of any changes to your delivery address.
    9. The value of the Prezzy® Card will be determined by Meridian.
    10. Prezzy® cards are subject to terms and conditions set by the issuer and will expire on the date shown on the card. 
    11. You agree to hold in strictest confidence any confidential information held by you or disclosed to you in relation to this Programme and will not use, copy or disclose the confidential information to any third party other than as agreed to by Meridian in writing, or as required to do so by law or any regulatory authority, in which case (to the extent permitted by law) you must give prior notice of that use, copy, disclosure to Meridian.
    12. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall create or evidence any partnership, joint venture, agency, trust or employer/employee relationship between you and Meridian, and you must not make, or allow to be made, any representation that any such relationship exists.
    13. Meridian reserves the right to terminate your participation in the Programme or cancel the entire Programme at any time by providing you with written notice by email. 
    14. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions restricts Meridian from entering into similar arrangements with other parties.
