EV Plan referrer credit terms and conditions

Effective from 5 June 2024 for existing residential customers of Meridian who invite a friend or family member who owns an EV to join an Eligible Plan with Meridian via the “Refer a friend” promotion. 

“Eligible Plan” means a Meridian plan as determined by Meridian in its sole discretion.

Subject to these terms and conditions, you will be entitled to receive a credit to your Meridian account (Referrer Credit) for each friend or family member (Friend) who owns an EV that you invite to join Meridian via our Refer a friend promotion, where your Friend meets the following criteria: 

  • your Friend must be a residential consumer as listed on the national electricity registry; 
  • your Friend must meet Meridian’s standard customer eligibility criteria (for example: credit criteria, refer to Meridian's Standard Terms and Conditions for the Supply of Electricity for more information); 
  • your Friend must not have been a Meridian customer in the 180 days prior to you sending them your unique sharing link; 
  • your Friend must sign up their main home to an Eligible Plan
  • your Friend can’t be a Meridian employee;
  • your Friend must be the owner of an EV and provide Meridian with the registration number of their EV.

To be eligible for this offer, you must be an existing Meridian residential customer. Your Referrer Credit of $105 will be credited to your Meridian account once your Friend has successfully switched to Meridian. The credit amount is calculated based on $35/month electricity cost to charge an EV, the total being $105 for 3 months’ worth of EV charging.

Your Referrer Credit will be applied to your Meridian account and will be applied to future invoices for electricity supplied by Meridian. There is no limit on the number of Friends that you can refer to Meridian and a separate Referrer Credit will be applied for each Friend that successfully switches to Meridian. 

Meridian may, at its sole discretion, either decline to apply any Referrer Credit, remove any Referrer Credit granted, or require a refund of a Referrer Credit already utilised, where it reasonably believes that you or your Friend have not complied with the terms and conditions of this offer or are taking unfair advantage of this offer. Examples include, but are not limited to, where: 

  • Meridian reasonably believes that your Friend or other residents at the same property have been a Meridian customer within the last 180 days; 
  • the same property has successively signed up numerous occupants within a 24-month period to claim the credit; or 
  • where it is apparent to Meridian that the referral is not genuine. 

The Referrer Credit is only available for use for paying for electricity supplied by Meridian. The Referrer Credit is not transferrable, refundable, or redeemable for cash. 

Meridian reserves the right to cancel this offer at any time without notice to you. Meridian may also vary this offer at any time by posting revised terms and conditions on our website. 

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify a consumer's right under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. 

Meridian never wants to spam anyone. We run our Refer a friend promotion solely to allow our customers to refer their friends and family. By using our Refer a friend link sharing function, you confirm that the recipients of the link have consented to receiving this message from you. 

Employees of Meridian may refer their friends and family to Meridian and be eligible to receive a Referrer Credit under (and subject to) these Terms and Conditions, but are not eligible to be referred to Meridian.
