A new partnership will add some power to the BNZ Crusaders in 2018, with Meridian Energy coming on board as an official partner.
Meridian Energy Chief Executive, Neal Barclay, said the partnership demonstrates Meridian’s commitment to this region.
“Canterbury and the upper South Island are key regions for us, and ones we have a long relationship with. All of our hydro generation is located in the South Island and Christchurch is where our retail operations first started. Our largest office and call centre are still located in Christchurch, so we are very much connected to and committed to this part of the country.
“We wanted to be able to give back to our loyal customers here, and what better way than by supporting the much-loved local rugby team. As much as it pains me to say it, because I am a loyal dyed in the wool Hurricanes supporter, Meridian is proud to be the power behind the Crusaders,” Mr Barclay said.
Meridian Energy’s partnership with the Crusaders has been launched today with the release of a video campaign (http://bit.ly/2o88lDY), featuring Jeremy Wells and a cast of Crusaders players, horsemen and fans. The partnership between Meridian Energy and the Crusaders also means that existing Meridian Energy customers will be offered discounts on Gold category tickets at Crusaders home games, as well as the chance to win prizes such as Crusaders gear and game-day experiences.
BNZ Crusaders CEO Hamish Riach said the partnership was a great fit for both organisations.
“Many of Meridian’s loyal customers are our loyal fans, and together we can create some fantastic opportunities to thank these people for their support.
“We have been impressed with the work that Meridian Energy does in the community, outside of their core business. From their sponsorship of Christchurch’s Court Theatre to their sustainability initiatives and support of their key charities, this is a business that has demonstrated its commitment to the communities it works with. We are proud to be partnered with Meridian Energy and excited about what we can do together,” Mr Riach said.
