The Meridian Energy Board has given the green light to invest $30 million in its electricity retail brand to revolutionise customer experience over the next three years.

The investment will see Meridian customers move to a software platform developed by Flux Federation, the technology behind online retailer Powershop, also owned by Meridian.

Flux Federation imagines, designs and builds software, brands and experiences for utility companies and their customers all around the world.

Meridian Chief Executive Neal Barclay says the Flux platform will enable Meridian to deliver a superior experience for its customers.

“By using our in-house expertise at Flux, our customers will get the benefit of the innovative ideas Flux is already implementing overseas right here in the New Zealand market. It will allow us to both respond to customers’ needs and deliver products to market faster than our competition,” says Neal.

“It’s an exciting time for our organisation and I’m pleased we can utilise the skills of our own people to deliver a better customer experience. It’s the first step on our journey that will support us in our goal to be New Zealand’s retailer of choice.”

With this move, Flux Federation will have close to 500,000 customers on its platform across three different countries.
