Meridian Energy has today announced changes for Powershop, its retail electricity brand in New Zealand.
Meridian will separate its software and technical development team from its Powershop retail brand to create a new Meridian subsidiary called Flux Federation.
Powershop will continue to retail electricity to customers in New Zealand.
Mark Binns, Meridian Chief Executive, says the decision makes sense for Powershop.
“By splitting the company in two, Powershop can continue its focus on competing hard in the New Zealand market whilst Flux Federation is able to pursue growth opportunities for its technical platform and software,” says Mark.
Flux Federation will be led by Ari Sargent. Mark Soper will lead Powershop Retail.
Changes will come into effect from 1 July 2017.
Flux Federation creates energy tools for utility teams and their customers across the globe. The new name encapsulates core elements of the Powershop technology platform, electric flows, user experience (UX) and embracing change.
