Living Legends

The Living Legends community conservation project planted around 85,000 native trees and shrubs throughout the country during Rugby World Cup 2011. Planning’s now underway for more plantings in 2012 engaging communities and making a practical contribution to our natural environment nationwide.

Living Legends is a joint venture between Project Crimson, an environmental charity focused on community-based native tree restoration projects and The Tindall Foundation. Meridian and the Department of Conservation are major sponsors.

South Island Rowing – generating champions

Meridian supports rowing regattas on the Lake Ruataniwha hydro lake near Twizel, and the development of excellence in rowing, through the Southern Regional Performance Centre in Christchurch.

The Meridian Wind Sculpture Walkway

The Meridian Wind Sculpture Walkway near Wellington airport showcases five fabulous wind-activated sculptures designed by New Zealand artists. These dynamic public art works celebrate Wellington’s best-known natural characteristic – the wind – and its place in our energy future.

The Meridian Wind Sculpture Walkway is a partnership between the Wellington Sculpture Trust, Wellington City Council and Meridian.
