Waste at Meridian offices
Our corporate offices are where our people gather in the largest numbers daily, so it’s important that we support them to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
Our corporate offices are where our people gather in the largest numbers daily, so it’s important that we support them to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
The waste generated at our offices is tiny compared to our assets and construction sites, but we still want to ensure the practices in our offices reflect our commitment to waste reduction.
When we set out to design our Wellington office, we wanted it to reflect the way we think about the planet – not just in what it looks like, but in how it was made. From the start, reuse was part of the plan. Materials were salvaged, repurposed and thoughtfully integrated into the space, giving new life to what might otherwise have gone to waste.
Throughout our offices, we use Method InSight waste and recycling bins. These allow us to measure and receive real-time data on the waste and recycling material we’re producing.
In addition, as part of our commitment to reducing waste to landfill, we’ve partnered with Method Recycling to pilot the Method Ai – Waste Assistant. This innovative tool uses an iPad placed near waste stations, allowing users to photograph their items and receive instant guidance on the correct bin to use. The trial is helping to improve sorting accuracy and raise awareness among staff.
Tackling Zero is Meridian’s quarterly newsletter for people whose roles or studies are focused on sustainability, or for whom this is an area of interest. Each issue will offer Meridian’s insights into a topical sustainability issue, as well as stories on how we, our customers and supply chain partners are tackling sustainability. It also includes links to recent Meridian disclosures such as new policies and reports.
