Meridian anticipates it will commence spilling at Lake Pukaki later this week. Continuing strong inflows into Lake Pukaki means that its level is currently sitting at 531.37m (AMSL), 5.6m above average for this time of year.
The Lake Pukaki spill gates are also in the midst of a refurbishment programme. Due to the high lake levels, we have chosen to spill water as a precaution to ensure there is no risk to the gates and pre-empt an expected rain event due later in the week.
We continue to generate at capacity from our six power stations along the Waitaki chain.
