  • Meridian’s August 2025 monthly total inflows were 73% of historical average.
  • Waiau catchment inflows in August 2025 were 67% of historical average.
  • Meridian’s Waitaki catchment water storage at the end of August 2025 was 65% of historical average.
  • Snow storage in Meridian’s Waitaki catchment was 78% of average in early September 2025.
  • Water storage in Meridian’s Waiau catchment was 84% of average at the end of August 2025.
  • August was a dry and cool month, with both rainfall and temperatures below average for most of the country.
  • National electricity demand in August 2025 was 5.9% higher than August 2024.
  • New Zealand Aluminium Smelters (NZAS) average load during August 2025 was 565MW.
  • Meridian’s retail sales volumes in August 2025 were 12.8% higher than August 2024.
  • Compared to August 2024, segment sales in residential were 35.3% higher (including Flick customers), small medium business 7.2% higher, large business 14.6% higher, agriculture 2.2% higher and corporate 4.3% higher.
