Payment options

Direct debit is the easiest way to pay your bill. Each month, the amount due is automatically deducted from your bank account on the bill's due date.

Your bill is always due two weeks after we send it, and your monthly statement will clearly show the scheduled payment date and the amount we’ll deduct.

The easiest way to set this up is by logging into your account online. Once you've added your direct debit details, make sure to set it as your preferred payment method, as it will not be set by default.

We also have a direct debit form you can fill out and send back to us, but setting it up online is quicker and easier.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Payment date: You can pick the date your bill falls due each month. If you need to change this, contact us. 
• It’s flexible: Direct debit is variable, so we’ll only take what’s owing at the time payment is due. If you make a payment before the due date, we’ll just debit the remaining balance.
• You’re in control: You can add or update your direct debit details anytime by logging into your account via our website or mobile app.
• Want to pay early? You can make a part or full payment ahead of the due date by requesting it through your online account, so long as there is an amount owing. 

Set and forget with recurring credit or debit card payments. Similar to a direct debit, you can choose to have your bill automatically paid each month using your credit or debit card. The due amount is charged to your card on your bill due date.

You can make payments on your own terms with direct credit payments via internet or phone banking, depending on your bank.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Due date: You can pick the date your bill falls due each month. If you need to change this, contact us. 
• Payment allocation: Payments made by direct credit generally take up to two business days to be allocated to your account. 
• Payment references: Use the correct references to ensure your payment is properly allocated. If your Meridian account number is fewer than 9 digits and your bank requires 9, add leading zeroes.
• You're in control: You will need to ensure that full payment for the due balance is received on or before your bill due date. 
• Rural supplier customers: Please don’t make any direct credit payments unless a Meridian representative has specifically instructed you to.
