This page lists Meridian’s plans, add ons and offers, and the corresponding Plan Terms and Special Terms and eligibility criteria, as at 16 March 2026

The Plan Eligibility Criteria and Add On Eligibility Criteria below are to be read together with Meridian’s Standard Terms and Conditions for the Supply of Electricity (Standard Terms), the relevant Plan Terms, the Special Terms and any other Special Terms you have agreed in writing with Meridian. If there are any inconsistencies the documents, the order of priority set out in clause 1.2 of the Standard Terms will apply.

Meridian reserves the right to cease offering certain plans, add ons and offers to new customers or new premises at any time, without notice.

Eligibility criteria may be amended by Meridian in accordance with the Standard Terms, clause 22.6.

Current Meridian plans

Freedom Plan (residential customers)

Plan Terms that apply to the Plan: Open Plan Terms.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • Your premises serviced by this plan must be classified as a residential customer as listed on the national electricity register; and
  • If you have solar or other generation equipment at your premises and wish to be paid for electricity you export to the grid:
    • Meridian must be the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises; and
    • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5-16.8 of the Standard Terms.

Solar Plan – Fixed Rate and Export Rate Plan (residential customers)

Plan Terms that apply to the Plan: Fixed Plan Terms.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • Your premises serviced by this plan must be classified as a residential customer as listed on the national electricity register; and
  • You must have solar or other generation equipment at your premises which has a capacity of up to 10 kilowatts (kW); and
  • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5-16.8 of the Standard Terms; and
  • Meridian is the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises.

EV Plan – Fixed Rate Plan (residential customers)

Plan Terms that apply to the Plan: Fixed Plan Terms.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • Your premises serviced by this plan must be classified as a residential customer as listed on the national electricity register;
  • You must have an operational and communicating smart meter that allows us to reliably process your electricity consumption data on a half hourly basis; and
  • If you have solar or other generation equipment at your premises and wish to be paid for electricity you export to the grid:
    • Meridian must be the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises; and
    • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5-16.8 of the Standard Terms.

Bach Plan – Fixed Rate Plan (residential customers)

Plan Terms that apply to the Plan: Fixed Plan Terms.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • Your premises serviced by this plan must be classified as a residential customer as listed on the national electricity register;
  • Your premises must be a secondary residential property; and
  • Meridian must supply electricity to you at one or more other premises which is classified as a residential; and
  • If you have solar or other generation equipment at your premises and wish to be paid for electricity you export to the grid:
    • Meridian must be the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises; and
    • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5- 16.8 of the Standard Terms.

Farmlands – residential Fixed Rate Plan

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • Your premises serviced by this plan must be classified as a residential customer as listed on the national electricity register;
  • You must be a registered member of Farmlands;
  • If you have solar or other generation equipment at your premises and wish to be paid for electricity you export to the grid:
    • Meridian must be the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises; and
    • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5-16.8 of the Standard Terms; and
  • Any other eligibility criteria for the Programme as reasonably determined by Meridian in our discretion.

Simple Flexi Plan (business customers)

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • You must be a small-to-medium business customer; and
  • If you have solar or other generation equipment at your premises and wish to be paid for electricity you export to the grid:
    • Meridian must be the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises; and
    • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5- 16.8 of the Standard Terms.

Farmlands – business Fixed Rate Plan (Farmlands agribusiness customers)

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • You must be a small-to-medium business customer;
  • You must be a registered member of Farmlands;
  • If you have solar or other generation equipment at your premises and wish to be paid for electricity you export to the grid:
    • Meridian must be the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises; and
    • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5-16.8 of the Standard Terms; and
  • any other eligibility criteria for the Programme as reasonably determined by Meridian in our discretion.

Everyday Economy – Fixed Energy Plan (business customers)

Eligibility criteria:

  • Your premises must be in an eligible network;
  • You must be a small-to-medium business customer; and
  • If you have solar or other generation equipment at your premises and wish to be paid for electricity you export to the grid:
    • Meridian must be the sole retailer in respect of the electricity used at, and exported from, your premises; and
    • you must meet the requirements for generation of electricity set out in clauses 16.5-16.8 of the Standard Terms.

Legacy Meridian plans (not available to new customers)

Everyday Economy Fixed Rate Plan (residential customers)

Everyday Economy Fixed Rate Plan (business customers)

Plan Terms that apply to the Plan: Fixed Plan Terms

For customers who signed up to a legacy Meridian plan on or before 15 March 2026, and that legacy Meridian plan includes a Termination Fee, Meridian may charge that Termination Fee on a pro-rata basis taking into account the time remaining in your legacy Meridian plan.

Current Meridian add ons 

Smart Hot Water (residential customers)

Special Terms that apply to the add on: Smart Hot Water Special Terms 

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be an existing Meridian customer or join Meridian as an electricity supply customer;
  • Your premises must be classified as a residential customer on the national electricity registry;
  • Your premises must be based in a network that is participating in the Programme;
  • Your premises must have an eligible and communicating smart meter that allows us to control your hot water cylinder;
  • Your premises must have a hot water cylinder that is heated using electricity and connected to the controllable part of the smart meter;
  • You meet the Programme requirements set out in clause 18.9 of the Standard Terms; and
  • You and your premises meet any other eligibility criteria for the Programme as reasonably determined by Meridian in our discretion acting reasonably. Any changes to the eligibility criteria will be notified in accordance with clause 22.6 of the Standard Terms.

Rural Supply Partner (agribusiness customers)

Special Terms that apply to the add on: Rural Supply Partner Special Terms

Eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a current registered member of Ruralco, Farmlands, PGG Wrightson or Farmsource (each a Rural Supply Partner) (we may ask you for proof of your membership);
  • You must advise us of your selected Rural Supply Partner (Selected Rural Supply Partner); and
  • You must pay your Meridian electricity bill through that Selected Rural Supply Partner.

Deferred Winter Payment (Ruralco customers)

Current Meridian join offers

$10 monthly account credit for first 12 months (residential Freedom Plan only)
